Safeguarding information

If it’s an emergency, don’t use this website — call 999.

ORVIA is not an emergency service, not a regulator and not a safeguarding authority. This page tells you where to go if you need one of those.

If someone is in immediate danger, ring 999.

This page exists to help you find the right first phone number if the situation is urgent. If you are unsure, ring 999 or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 and let a trained call handler help you decide.

Emergency

999 — child or adult in immediate danger. Police, ambulance, fire.

Safeguarding — local authority

Every UK local authority has a safeguarding team for children and one for adults. Search “[your council name] safeguarding” or call the council’s main switchboard and ask to be put through to the safeguarding duty team.

When ORVIA is the right route

Once the immediate situation is stabilised — or if the concern is serious but not an emergency — ORVIA can help with an independent review. Complete the triage form and we’ll respond within three working days.
